Author Guidelines

Colirium: Journal of Representational Studies and Represontology, through these guidelines, aims for excellence and originality in scientific production. Below are the instructions for article submission:

Originality and Literature Review:
The research presented in the article must be original and not limited to a literature review. Although a literature review may be included, it should serve as a tool to support an original and innovative analysis. The goal is for the article to contribute significantly and uniquely to the field of study, exploring new perspectives, proposals, or solutions.

Citations of Classic Works:
The article must include at least one citation from a classic or established work in the field in which the research is situated. This demonstrates the author's theoretical mastery of the academic tradition and places the article in a relevant dialogue with major scholarly milestones.

Citations of Foreign Language Works:
To ensure internationalization and dialogue with global academic production, it is necessary to cite at least one impactful work in a foreign language, prioritizing English. However, references in Spanish, French, Italian, German, or other relevant languages are also accepted for research submitted to the journal.

Citations of Latin, African, and Asian Authors:
The article must cite at least one work by authors from Latin America, Africa, or Asia. This guideline aims to promote academic diversity and highlight the scientific contributions from regions historically underrepresented in global academia.

Citations of Articles from Colirium and/or Parajás Journals:
As a way to strengthen intellectual exchange between academic journals and to value the production of Parajás Institute journals, it is mandatory to cite at least one article published in Revista Parajás and/or Colirium: Journal of Representational Studies and Represontology.

Article Formatting:
Articles must be formatted according to the journal's template, available for download [here] (click to download). The submitted file must be in Microsoft Word (doc) format, without author identification in the body of the text. The articles must be submitted with all required formatting, including headers and footers, following these standards:

  • Font: Times New Roman, size 12, no bold;
  • Spacing: 1.5 lines between paragraphs;
  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides;
  • Formatting: The text must be justified, and the first line of each paragraph should be indented by 1.25 cm. Section titles in the body of the text should be written in uppercase.

Text Organization:

  • Title: Must be presented in Portuguese and English (for articles in Portuguese). For texts in other languages, the second title must be in Portuguese or English. In the case of articles in English, the second title must be in Portuguese.
  • Abstract: The abstract should be between 150 and 250 words, in a single paragraph, highlighting objectives, methodology, and results. The abstract should be followed by keywords, separated by semicolons.
  • Keywords: Three to five words or expressions that identify the content of the article. Present the abstract and keywords also in English (or Portuguese for articles in other languages).
  • Body of the Article: Divided into clear sections, with a note on funding or academic affiliations at the end.
  • Tables and Graphs: Must be numbered and follow ABNT standards.
  • Citations and References: Citations must follow ABNT standards:
    • Direct citations of up to three lines should be inserted into the text in quotation marks;
    • Citations of more than four lines should be indented 4 cm from the left margin, in Times New Roman font, size 11, without quotation marks;
    • Bibliographical references must follow ABNT standards and be presented in alphabetical order. They should be in size 12 and with 1.15 line spacing.

Submission Criteria:
Revista Colirium publishes only original articles. Previously published works and/or those submitted to other journals will be disregarded. Additionally, the articles must have at least one author with a master's and/or doctoral degree. The order of author presentation will follow alphabetical order, regardless of academic title and contribution level of each co-author to the article.

Review Process:

  • Desk Review: After submission, the timeframe for preliminary evaluation is up to 12 months. Articles that do not meet formatting and/or guideline criteria will be returned to the authors during the editors' initial analysis.
  • Peer Review: If approved in the preliminary evaluation, the article will be sent to ad hoc reviewers, with a maximum period of 12 months for the completion of this phase.

Authors submitting articles to Revista Colirium agree to the established guidelines and acknowledge the evaluation deadlines.
